Reactive Dog Consultation

Does your dog "lose it" when he or she sees other dogs?

Do you have to wait outside when you take your dog to the vet?

Is it difficult or embarrassing just to go for a walk around the neighborhood?

You have a reactive dog.

Reactivity is a very common issue here in the suburbs, especially in this post-covid world. Happy Dog Training will help your best friend actually become relaxed and confident around other dogs...without the use of choke chains, prong collars or shock collars.

Not all dogs are destined to become dog park regulars (just like not all people enjoy group hugs!), but we can help make the simple things in life easier and calmer for you and your dog.

During your Reactive Dog Consultation, we will:

  • Assess your dog's temperament and sociability

  • Assess your dog's level of reactivity and triggers

  • Determine if reactivity is due to fear or frustration

  • Teach you to read dog body language to prevent them from "blowing up" BEFORE it happens

  • Assess threshold distance

  • Lifestyle changes to reduce dog’s arousal level

  • Basic management for living/working with a reactive dog

Please read this excellent blog post about reactivity!

Please note: If your dog is aggressive toward people, please go to our BEHAVIOR CONSULTATIONS page for how we can help.
